This discoteque is located on the Stadium Plaza
in the Miraflores area. You can usually hear and dance to salsa between 9:30
and 11 p.m. Besides, at that time the place is nearly empty and there is room
to dance. After that they put all sorts of Latin music so don't expect to
hear much salsa the rest of the night.
The place has space for about 150 people. It is dark with colored lights to
give it that "disco" ambiance. Fridays and Saturdays it is pretty
full of people and there isn't much space to move around. If you go alone and
before 11:00 p.m., there is no cover charge. After 11 the cover charge is 20
Bolivianos (about US$2.50). But if you go with a group or as a couple, they
don't charge a cover, only drinks.

Perhaps few places in Israel have as much history
related to salsa as Glasnost in Jerusalem and Coco Loco in Tel Aviv. Glasnost
was the home of the Jerusalem Salsa Band for the last decade. It is a popular
pub located in the entertainment quarter of the capital. For a long time
Glasnost had the only Salsa band in the city, and probably the whole country.
Glasnost has recently gone through "shiputzim" renovations, which
make it an even better place to dance. Israel is peculiar in that it somehow
develops its own version of every Salsa style. Rueda had been the dominant
style for a long time until, Yossi Conde introduced LA style and Bachata. Don
Francisco from Sábado Gigante was there once to film the Salsa dancers and to
interview some in the crowd. I think that was the first time he saw one man
dancing with two women. Once there was a time when all the Salsa classes were
taught in English only because there were so many tourists coming in from all
over the world. The first Jerusalem Salsa Competition was held at Glasnost
and was won by one of Yossi's most original dance students, "Dudu"
Dahan.

mostly Salsa being played. As it is "the non-resident DJ night",
and non-professionals are invited to try and entertain the public, the music
is an interesting mix of various Salsa beats (ranging from Cuban, Mambo, Puerto Rican, Colombian
to European Salsa) and bachata, cha cha, a tad of merengue make an
interesting variation. Definitely reccommended to those who have a Salsa
fixation and also prefer to come earlier to the club. The people are friendly
and the club is safe.
